The interest in treasure hunting, ancient artifacts, and finds from World War I and II using metal detectors is not limited to Russia and the post-Soviet space. A vivid illustration of this is the detectorists' rally held from June 22 to 23, 2024, in Italy. The large-scale event, DETACTITTALIA, organized by the Italian Federation for Metal Detection (FIMD), traditionally took place at Piana delle Orme (Latina).
Piana delle Orme is a historical park, the name of which translates literally to "plain where traces remain." Today, it houses the largest private historical museum in Italy. Its exhibitions contain several tens of thousands of artifacts, including military equipment, weapons, tools, toys, and many other items dating from the early 20th century to the early peacetime years following World War II.
For DETACTITTALIA, the management of the historical park allocated the museum park area. Here, representatives from national and international companies engaged in the development and manufacturing of metal detectors and various excavation tools showcased their products to the professional community. Among them were representatives from the AKA company, who brought the IntroNik STF metal detector to Italy.
In addition to exhibitions and presentations, competitions for detectorists were held during the event. For this purpose, an area of about 30 hectares adjacent to the museum park was pre-buried with gold and silver coins and other targets, the discovery of which granted participants the opportunity to win commemorative prizes. As a result of the treasure hunting competition, the Russian device IntroNik STF achieved some of the best results, earning a well-deserved award in the form of a gold token weighing 3.5 grams.
